Marie-Philip Poulin sets a new Olympic record with 20 career goals, leading Canada to a semifinal win over Switzerland at the 2026 Winter Games.

Poulin Makes History in Milan

Canada’s hockey superstar Marie-Philip Poulin has done it again. On Monday, the 34-year-old forward etched her name in Olympic history by becoming the all-time leading goal scorer in women’s hockey. Poulin’s 19th career Olympic goal gave Team Canada an early 1-0 lead over Switzerland in the semifinals at the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics.

Less than ten minutes later, she struck again, doubling the lead and bringing her career total to 20 goals—an unprecedented milestone in women’s Olympic hockey.

A Record-Breaking Performance

Poulin’s first goal of the game came from a powerful one-timer at the top of the zone. The puck bounced past Swiss goalie Andrea Braendli, navigating through a crowd of players before finding the back of the net. Her second goal was equally spectacular—a clean finish off a rebound—while her proud parents cheered from the stands at Milano Santagiulia Ice Hockey Arena.

This latest achievement adds to a remarkable career. Poulin had tied legendary forward Hayley Wickenheiser with her 18th Olympic goal just days earlier during Canada’s quarterfinal victory over Germany. That match also marked her return to action after missing two games due to a lower-body injury.

Captain Clutch Lives Up to the Name

A five-time Olympian, Poulin’s trophy cabinet includes three gold medals (Vancouver 2010, Sochi 2014, Beijing 2022) and one silver (Pyeongchang 2018). She’s earned her nickname, “Captain Clutch,” by scoring the game-winning goals in all three of her gold-medal triumphs.

Before the 2026 Games, Poulin had amassed 17 goals, 18 assists, and 35 points across 22 Olympic games. Her latest feats only strengthen her reputation as one of the greatest women’s hockey players in history.

Canada Eyes Another Gold

With Poulin firing on all cylinders, Canada now heads into the Olympic final with momentum and confidence. Fans are eagerly watching to see if “Captain Clutch” can once again deliver a gold-medal-winning performance.
